Our Philosophy

The non-profit civil partnership ‘Theatriki Sympaignia’ was founded in 2003 with the aim of producing theatrical, musical-theatre and dance-theatre performances. Upon its relocation from Athens to Ioannina, new needs and goals emerged. The theatre lab was established in 2016, with the aim of teaching acting, improvisation and theatre games, organising seminars, as well as exploring and experimenting on modern methods and techniques related to the art of acting. Among its main goals was to create a space that would host these activities and be able to connect the city of Ioannina to the rest of Greece and, hopefully, the world, hosting renowned artists and teachers. A large portion of this space was created in January 2022, thus bringing us closer to achieving our goals.

The lab of Theatriki Sympaignia has brought together numerous teachers with a rich professional background and expertise. Theatriki Sympaignia employs one person as an administrative assistant, one dramatologist-theatrologist, three acting and theatrical play teachers, one movement and dance teacher, one voice and musical theatre singing teacher and a children’s choir teacher.

The lab of Theatriki Sympaignia is aimed at people aged four and over, as well as at individuals belonging to vulnerable groups of the population. Our facilities are easily accessible by people with disabilities, thanks to the wheelchair ramps and the accessible toilet designed according to special specifications. It is located in a central part of the city (by the lake) and offers free parking space.

During the first week of its operation (October 2021), Theatriki Sympaignia attracted more than 100 students, while registrations continue on a daily basis.
